What do you think of when you think of homelessness? Did you know that most homeless people in Northern Ireland are not rough sleepers? Do you have questions about homelessness you'd like answered in a relaxed, conversational setting?
Join Shelter NI’s Ray Cashell as he hosts an online panel discussion with the Imagine Belfast festival of Politics and Ideas to mark Shelter NI's 40-year journey combating homelessness. Alongside Ray will be a panel of experienced professionals, from managers of homeless support networks in the UK to those working on the frontlines.
Established in 1980, Shelter NI has strived to support those who have fallen homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. Through providing services and advocating for those in need, and raising awareness on the causes and challenges of homelessness, Shelter NI continues to battle against homelessness into the future.
The expert panel will discuss the key challenges, changes, and impacts of homelessness over recent years in NI and across the UK. Moreover, they will talk about the challenges of Covid-19 on homeless service users and how provision is being affected during these extraordinary times.
Our audience will have an optional opportunity to participate by having their questions answered by the panel and find out what action they can take to help fight homelessness in society.
So please join us to find out about the changing nature of homelessness and how you can help!
