Shelter NI 40th Anniversary Art Competition and Calendar
In August 2020, we launched our first ever art competition leading up to our 40th Anniversary, with the winning submissions printed in our 40th anniversary calendar. We received an incredible response and are so appreciative of everyone who donated prizes, liked and shared our social media posts related to the events, bought our calendar, and of course, submitted their artwork!
In the words of our celebrity judge Tara Lynne O’Neill (Derry Girls): ‘They were all very very good – so hard to pick!’ However, tough choices were made, and here were our judges’ final decisions:
Our GRAND PRIZE WINNER:
NINA BALMAVERDE!
Children’s Category Winners:
Nina Balmaverde
Jude Robb
Finn Griffin
Kayleigh Diver
Teen Category Winners:
Caitlin O’Doherty
Jazmine Cabaluna
Becky Phelan
Amy Barber
Adult Category Winner
Kit Rees
Edele Watters
Emma Doherty
Chloe McDevitt
Thanks to all our winners and other entrants for their masterpieces! A massive thank you also goes out to our creative judging panel of graphic designers, marketers, artists and actors: Ciaran Harley (Zoocreative), Catriona Holmes, Manus Deery, and Tara Lynne O’Neill (Derry Girls) for taking part, and to all the businesses that donated prizes:
Movie House Cinemas
Zeus Detailing
The Lamppost Café
Crumlin Road Gaol Visitor Attraction and Conference Centre
Dundonald International Ice Bowl
Hobbycraft Newtownabbey
Prison Island Belfast
Flying Tiger Copenhagan
McColgans Quality Foods Ltd
We couldn’t have achieved any of this this without your hard work and generosity, and the calendar only looks as fabulous as it does because of all of YOU! Thanks to everyone who bought the calendars, we were able to sell over 100! Those left over were donated to local nursing and residential homes, community organisations, and housing associations.
We have more exciting events coming up this year to celebrate our 40th anniversary, so make sure to keep updated, especially if you missed out on the art competition! Updates will be posted on our social media pages, so make sure to give us a follow:
