Job Title: Male Support Worker - Part Time
Salary Scale: NJC Scale 4 Point 7 starting at £20,092 (pro rata)

Are you an experienced male support worker with a passion for helping young people? Then we have the perfect job for you! Shelter NI are currently recruiting for a part time, male support worker to join our fantastic SLATE project team based in Omagh.
Shelter NI are using a genuine occupational requirement provision under Article 10 (2) (b) of the Sex Discrimination Order to recruit for a permanent, part-time male, support worker referencing privacy, dignity, and authenticity.
About the role
The support worker will be responsible for providing a range of high-quality services within the SLATE project based in Omagh. Individual tailored support for up to two years will be delivered to young people aged 16-25 referred to the project who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless and have a need for housing related services; or young adults aged 18 to 25 who step down to rent independently and need temporary housing support to enable their tenancy to be a success. The support offered aims to promote independence and enable each young person to achieve lasting independent living skills.
This post is contracted for 21 hrs p/w.
Monday to Sunday 9.00 am to 9.00 pm on a rota basis which includes a flexible work pattern. Participation in an out of hours on call rota may be required also.
Qualifications and experience essential criteria : NVQ Level 2 or above in care or equivalent with 2 years experience in a caring setting. Experience of working with people in a caring role. Experience of working with young people who may exhibit challenging behaviours. Knowledge of the needs of vulnerable young people who are homeless. Knowledge of supports available in the community and the support planning process. Knowledge of current issues affecting young people and areas of issues that they may be experiencing.
Applicants must be in possession of current, valid driving licence and access to own transport.
